Alma Sievers & Patricia Adams

Alma Sievers
"As God’s creatures, each of us are unique in the way we see, interpret and emotionally experience our physical world."

Alma's pre-school years were spent waiting out the depression on a small farm in Central Illinois. She was an only, lonely little person wandering around playing with farm animals and wanting to make something.

When Alma was four, she started digging clay out of a stream bank that flowed through her family's cow pasture. Fashioning small pots from clay, imprinting it with thistle seed pods and etching (she couldn’t yet write) with sticks. She sat in the hot sun until the collection dried and was content. "I felt good. My crayons and coloring books bored me. I vowed never to follow a pattern or to color within the lines. If I made it—it would be mine entirely," says Alma.

At the age of 46, Alma enrolled in Illinois Central College where she was introduced to print making by the late Lee Benz. She fell totally in love with the process although she still likes pottery-making. Alma made original fine art limited edition prints four days a week for ten years. She also did an independent study at Bradley University and started showing her work.

"I probably tend to view objects larger and more colorful than they are," says Alma. "Designs excite me! Printmaking is well suited to my flair for rearranging exaggerating and abstracting that which is in my environment."

Her desire is to respond and creatively share with the joy she finds in her mind and her environments. You, the viewer, complete that response.

Alma is a member of: Illinois Art League-Board 198201983: Morton Art League: Association for the Arts (national organization for the promotion of the arts with the Church of the Brethren) Artists Coalition of Central Illinois

Contributions:Heart of Illinois Fair: PBS channel 47 Art Auction Art for Hunger; st. Francis Medical Center

Juried Shows: International year of the Disabled Person, 1981; Illinois Central College Spring arts festival, 1979, 1980, 1981. Lincoln Art Festival; Peoria Art Festival

She received many purchase awards and local exhibit awards including Best of Show.
Alma's work has been on display and for sale in several Central Illinois locations and in
private homes and business offices.

Alma is married to Theodore Sievers; mother of three adult children, grandmother of
four girls and one boy; seven great grandchildren

Patricia C. Adams – Watercolor Artist
“Light is the essence of my work, my inspiration and the driving force that allows me to transfer to the viewers the emotion I feel from my subjects.”

There has always been a strong need to create in Pat’s life, but an interest in watercolor painting began in high school and college; however, several years would follow in raising four children and working, when little time was left for painting.

For the past 12 years she has participated in the arts and studied with acclaimed regional and national artists, only to realize her own evolvement as a watercolorist. Her style is traditional realism and her favorite subjects are seascapes and florals. Pat uses her sense of color, value and design with light to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.

This award winning artist has earned Signature status in both the Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Watercolor Societies and has been accepted into numerous local and international juried shows. Her work is represented in private and corporate collections, as well as galleries in the Harrisburg, PA capital area.
